The Technical Manager (Director Designate) reporting directly to the CEO is responsible for all technical activity across the Associations core focus areas:
Additional to the job specification and key objectives set by the CEO and Directorship is also expected to be a self-motivational proactive role, who’s prime objective is to ensure Members of the Association are kept fully abreast of changes of a Product Standard, Regulation and Legislation nature.
The brief for activity within the various forums is provided by the Membership with direction from the CEO and Board of Directors.
Key elements of the role include:
Monitor, update, input to the revisions and drafting of relevant British and European Standards for the bathroom Industry. Ensure members vies are sought and kept abreast of any proposed changes.
Liaise with Government departments on all issues having a direct or indirect impact on the bathroom Industry. Ensure that the Association responds on all relevant consultations.
Represent the Association and membership at relevant trade body technical forums, in the UK, Europe and further afield, reporting on a regular basis to members on any issues.
Enhance relationships with the water industry to promote the BMA’s technical objectives. Brief BMA members regularly on activity.
Operate a confidential effective technical enquiry service for members
Respond where necessary to any enquiries from the trade and public
Liaise with other members of the Secretariat on projects, events and meetings
Facilitate member’s technical meetings with the aid of the meeting Chair and Secretariat
Develop strong working relationships with membership at Technical and Senior level
Undertake meeting minutes and dissemination of relevant documents
Liaise with other members of the Secretariat team on environmental issues

The candidate must be appropriately qualified, experienced and a determined individual that fully meets the job specification who is equally selflf motivated and able to communicate within a committee environment. The candidate should have extensive knowledge of the construction industry and ideally have experience within the bathroom sector and Standards forums.
The position includes extensive use of a computer and research using the internet. Good communication skills are required with good report writing essential.
